PRIVACY COLLECTION NOTICE – THE ACCELERATED SPORTS NUTRITION ASSESSMENT PLATFORM

The University of Sydney uses the Platform to Evaluate Athlete Knowledge of Sports – Nutrition Questionnaire (PEAKS-NQ) and the Athlete Diet Index (ADI) to provide you, and potentially the partners you work with,  information to optimise your nutrition and sports performance. We use the Accelerated Sports Nutrition Assessment Platform to receive and respond to any messages you submit through this channel.

Information we collect

For both the PEAKS-NQ and the ADI surveys, you can choose to give us your email address so that we can send you a copy of your survey responses. You also can choose to provide the email address of your dietitian, if you want your survey data to be shared with them. It is your responsibility to confirm with your dietitian that they consent to you providing their email address to us.

The Qualtrics tool we use to deliver the surveys uses browser cookies, primarily to enable you to partially complete the surveys and return to them at a later point.

Within Qualtrics, the option to anonymise responses has been turned on for each survey and therefore Qualtrics cookies do not record your IP address or location data.

For the PEAKS-NQ and the ADI surveys, if you are under 16 years of age, when you complete these surveys, we will also ask you to confirm that your parent or guardian has given consent for you to complete them.

Additional information we collect when you complete the PEAKS-NQ survey

To provide you with tailored dietary advice to help optimise your nutrition and sports performance, the PEAKS_NQ survey asks you for information about the country you live in, your age, your height, your weight, the sport you participate in, your ethnicity and the level at which you compete. The survey will also collect information about your knowledge of food groups, nutrients, dietary supplements and your skills in adjusting your dietary intake.

Additional information we collect when you complete the Athlete Diet Index (ADI) Survey

To provide you with tailored dietary advice to help optimise your nutrition and sports performance, the survey asks you for information about your current diet, any supplements you might be taking, your training information and the management of your body composition. It also asks for information about the country you live in, your age, your height, your weight, the sport you participate in, your ethnicity and the level at which you compete. It will also ask about any medication you might be on, any health issues you have and your cooking ability.

Additional information we collect when you engage with our website

If you submit a comment or question via the Accelerated Sports Nutrition Assessment Platform, you will be asked to provide your email address and your comment or question. This information will then be used by University staff to respond to your enquiry.

How we use and share your information

If you request it, we will share it with your dietitian

If you provide your dietitian’s email address, the University will also share your survey responses with your dietitian, so they can use the survey assessments to provide you with personalised dietary advice. If you select this option, your dietitian will receive more specific analysis about your responses to relevant questions, to provide you with more specific dietary support.

Potential research use

You can also opt in to have your survey responses shared with the specific research and other partners associated with the Accelerated Sports Nutrition Assessment Platform, such as the Australian Institute of Sport, High Performance New Zealand, the Australian state-based academies and institutes, or other specific partners listed in the survey tool.

The research dataset compiled will have all direct identifiers, such as email address, removed. Specific values you provide for indicators like weight and height will be aggregated into a score and the specific values you provide will not be given to the project partners. If you are an athlete associated with the Australian Institute of Sport or High Performance New Zealand, your athlete ID will be identifiable to these organisations.

To contribute to ongoing nutrition research, you can opt in to have your survey responses added to the University of Sydney research dataset that is being compiled through the PEAKS-NQ and the ADI survey tools.

This information can only be accessed by a small number of authorised University staff. Any future research use of survey responses will be governed by University of Sydney or Massey University ethics approvals, agreements and data management protocols.
